Contact the Editor

We welcome editorial correspondence from readers who use the Public Domain Literature Library. Your observations help us improve the catalogue for everyone.

When to Write

You may wish to contact us about any of the following:

  • Metadata corrections — an incorrect title, author name, or publication date; a book placed in the wrong category (for example, a poetry collection listed under Space Voyages: Texts & Context instead of Verse and the Stage); or missing contributor information.
  • File or display problems — an unreadable ebook file, a format that does not open on your device, garbled text, missing illustrations, or a consistent failure in a particular browser or ereader application.
  • Accessibility issues — poor contrast, missing alt text, insufficient heading structure, or other barriers that prevent you from using the catalogue or its ebooks.
  • Privacy questions — concerns about how your data is handled when you browse or download, including any cookies or analytics tools that may be present.
  • Copyright or rights concerns — if you believe a work in the catalogue is not in the public domain in your jurisdiction, or if you hold rights to a text and wish to discuss its inclusion.
  • General editorial observations — suggestions for new categories, corrections to reading notes, or thoughts about how a particular edition is presented.

If you are unsure whether your query fits any of these categories, please write anyway. We prefer to receive a message that turns out to be unnecessary rather than miss an important report.

What to Include

To help us act quickly, please provide as much of the following as is relevant:

  • The exact URL (web address) of the page where you noticed the issue.
  • The full title of the ebook as it appears in the catalogue.
  • The file format you tried to use (EPUB, PDF, MOBI, HTML, plain text, etc.).
  • The device, browser, or ereader software you were using (including version if known).
  • A clear description of the problem you encountered.
  • If your message concerns copyright or rights, any supporting information you are able to share (such as the jurisdiction you are in and the basis for your concern).

For metadata corrections, it is helpful if you can cite a reliable source—such as a scanned title page from a trusted library, a standard bibliographic reference, or a well-known scholarly edition—that confirms the correct information. This allows us to verify the change and apply it with confidence.

If you are reporting a file problem, describing what you expected to see versus what actually appeared can make a significant difference. For example, if a poem is missing its final stanza, mention the title of the poem and the approximate location in the file.

How to Reach Us

Please send your message to editor@joeem.com. This address reaches the anthology editor, Ernest Conan, who reviews all correspondence personally.

We read every message carefully and consider each report, but we cannot guarantee a personal reply or a specific timeline for resolution. Your patience is appreciated.

Thank you for helping us maintain a trustworthy and useful catalogue of public-domain literature.
